Building in Silence: Finding Calm in a Season of Change
The air is changing. The days are growing shorter, the clocks are about to shift, and nature is beginning to remind us of something we so easily forget:
There is a time to grow outward, and there is a time to turn inward.
As the leaves fall and the world begins to slow, I find myself thinking about hibernation. Not as disappearing from life, but as creating space to rest, reflect, and reconnect with what is growing beneath the surface.
Because even when we can’t see it, something is still happening.
The trees may look bare, but their roots remain. Seeds rest beneath the soil, holding the possibility of what they will become. Nature doesn’t rush to prove that it is growing. It trusts the rhythm of the season.
What if we allowed ourselves to do the same?
When the world feels loud
There is so much happening in the world right now. For many of us, it feels like we are carrying more than we can explain.
We may feel tired even after resting. Maybe our minds feel foggy, our emotions are closer to the surface, or the direction we once felt so certain about seems harder to see.
I believe we are capable of feeling more than we have been taught to recognize. We can pick up on the emotions and energy around us, and sometimes we sense changes before we have words for them.
I also feel that there is movement beyond what we can see—chaos and transformation happening in other dimensions, with parts of ourselves connected to more than this physical experience. We may each understand that differently, and that’s okay. What matters is honoring what we’re feeling and giving ourselves room to listen.
When everything feels loud, we don’t have to push harder to find our way. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is pause.
Hibernation can be a season of creation
We often think of creation as doing: making the plan, launching the idea, finishing the project, or taking the next big step.
But creation also happens in the quiet.
It happens when we give ourselves permission to dream without immediately knowing how everything will come together. When we pick up a paintbrush because it brings us joy. When we sit with a journal, take a walk, listen to music, or allow an idea to find us.
It happens when we rest long enough to hear ourselves again.
This season, I invite us to make time to DO and BE the things that feel true to who we are. Not because we need to become someone new, but because there may be parts of us waiting to be remembered.
The creative part. The playful part. The part that feels deeply. The part that has survived hard things and still believes there is more beauty ahead.
All of it belongs.
Our experiences—the joyful ones and the painful ones—have shaped us, but they do not limit who we can become. Each season offers an opportunity to meet ourselves with more compassion, learn something new, and choose what we want to carry forward.

Let your higher self peek through
When we slow down, we create room to hear the quieter voice within us—the one that isn’t driven by fear, pressure, or everyone else’s expectations.
We might call it our intuition, our higher self, our inner wisdom, or simply the part of us that knows when something feels right.
Whatever name we give it, that voice can be difficult to hear when life is moving at full speed.
In stillness, there is so much knowledge.
It doesn’t always arrive as a grand answer. Sometimes it’s a gentle nudge to rest. An idea we can’t stop thinking about. A feeling that it’s time to let something go. Or a reminder to return to something we love.
We don’t have to figure out our entire lives today. We can begin by listening to what we need in this moment.
A gentle reset for this season
As the time changes and the evenings become darker earlier, let’s give ourselves a little space to settle into the shift. We can make a warm drink, wrap ourselves in a blanket, light a candle, or find a quiet place to sit.
Take a slow breath in. Let it go.
Then we can ask ourselves:
What am I ready to release from the season I’m leaving behind?
What part of myself have I been wanting to make more time for?
What might be growing in my life, even if I can’t see the results yet?
We don’t need perfect answers. We don’t even need to write them down, though we may find that helpful. We can simply notice what comes up.
And if all we can do today is take one breath, complete one small task, or give ourselves one moment of kindness, let that be enough.
We are right where we need to be
If you’ve been feeling behind, uncertain, or as though you aren’t moving in the direction you desire, I want you to hear this:
Our lives are still unfolding, even in the quiet.
The small choices matter. The moments we choose to keep going matter. The rest we allow ourselves matters. Every little task and every minute we spend caring for ourselves can become part of something bigger, even when the impact isn’t clear yet.
Let’s have grace with ourselves. Have faith in what is unfolding. Believe that we are stronger than we know.
We don’t have to have it all figured out to take our next step.
You’ve got this. We’ve got this.
As we move into this new season, may we give ourselves permission to slow down, create in our own time, and find our calm in the chaos.
With love,
Erin Nicole
